How it works
How Folkle Works
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Welcome to Folkle. This page explains how we work — and why parents can trust what they find here.
Building trust is our most important job. We take it seriously.
How recommendations get on Folkle
Every recommendation on Folkle starts with a parent who's personally used the provider. Here's what happens next:
- A parent recommends someone they trust — a pediatrician, camp, activity, or service they've genuinely used.
- We review every submission. Not automatically — actual humans look at what's shared and verify basic details.
- If it fits, we add it to the directory. The recommendation is credited to the parent who shared it.
- Future parents benefit from a real, trusted recommendation from someone in their neighborhood.
What we never do
Businesses cannot buy rankings. No provider can pay to be listed higher, tagged as recommended, or featured. Position on Folkle is earned through real recommendations from real parents.
- No pay-to-play. A provider paying us doesn't get better placement, more visibility, or a badge.
- No fake reviews. Every attribution is a real parent. No content is generated to fill space.
- No selling your data. Parent information stays private and never leaves Folkle for commercial use.
- No behavioural advertising. We don't run ads and don't share data with ad networks.
If we ever change any of this
If Folkle ever introduces sponsored content or paid placements in the future, they'll be clearly labelled. You'll always know what's recommended by parents and what isn't.
We value quality over quantity — a directory of 100 truly trusted providers beats one with 10,000 unreliable ones.
The Village
The Village is a private space for parents to ask questions and share honest experiences. Every member is a real parent with a real name. Conversations are organised by topic and neighbourhood so nothing gets lost.

The Shop Edit
When The Shop Edit launches, it will be a curated marketplace featuring the products parents actually recommend to one another. Any commissions or affiliations will be disclosed — you'll always know when Folkle earns from a recommendation.
Our promise to you
Folkle exists to help parents make informed decisions with the help of other parents who've been there. We'll always prioritise your trust over our growth.
